Sublittoral Zone

The sublittoral zone extends from low tide to the edge of the continental shelf.  This area can generally be found about 150 to 300 meters in depth.  Sunlight can reach the bottom in most areas and nutrient up-welling creates an abundance of plant and animal life including starfish, oysters, sea urchins, crabs, and anemones.
